Review - Benefit's Porefessional Matte Rescue

Benefit have done it again. Another new pore minimising product! This time, the product is aimed at people with more oily skin or people who prefer a matte finish when applying make-up. It claims to hydrate the skin and blur pores instantly as well as mattifying shine.

Benefit include the statistics which say;
  • 92% said it mattifies instantly
  • 92% said skin feels clean and refreshes
  • 89% said it absorbs excess surface oil instantly
Obviously these statistics are super high so I decided to try it out myself.

Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue - £21.50

So my first impression was good. The only thing that could've stopped me from buying it, is the fact that it is a gel formulation. I tend to use more creamy formulas as I find gel ones sticky and they take more time to absorb into my skin. I decided to get it anyway, as I always like to try new things.

The great thing with this product is that you can use it alone, as a moisturiser or as a primer, underneath your foundation. It's a lovely product to start your make-up routine with as it is very refreshing and cooling, as stated.

In regards to mattifying, the everyday shine on my skin, disappeared almost instantly. My preferred skin finish is matte so this product is perfect for me.

If anybody is looking for a new primer, I highly recommend this product. Not only do you get a lot of product for your money, the formulation is amazing!

NEW Avon Ultra Colour Lip Tint Pen Review

Exciting news! Avon are coming out with some new lip tint pens and I was super lucky and got to try them out. The line consists of seven lip tint pens which are described as a 'kiss-proof pout that lasts'. Avon also claim that they are bleed proof and transfer proof. This is what every girl looks for in a lip product. Is it too good to be true?

As mentioned before, there are seven different shades. All shades are super vibrant and look great for the summer. They include Strawberry, Coral, Raspberry, Freesia, Hazelnut, Fuchsia and Flamingo. My favourite of the seven is definitely Raspberry and I have been wearing it constantly over the past couple of days. You all know how much I love my statement lip! The packaging of the product is the same statement Avon packaging with a swatch on the end of the tube. I love when lip products have this as it's super easy to see all the different colours and pick the one you want, if they are displayed nicely.

Onto the product itself.. When first applying the colour, the smell of the product was slightly overwhelming. It smelt like a permanent marker which worries me slightly about what I'm putting on my lips. Overcoming that inital issue though, the application was so so simple. This is one thing I love about using pen style products. The tip is a great shape so it makes precision easy. The formulation dried quickly which avoided smudging and the colour came out very pigmented.

Naturally, I put the colour I decided on in my handbag so I could re-apply during the day, if needed. Although, I never felt the need to apply it throughout the whole day. These lip tint are definitely what they say they are. Amazing quality and only priced at £5.50. Such a bargain! Below are all the colours swatched:

I definitely recommend purchasing one of these new lip tints, especially to wear during the summer. They are so so pretty.

Review - Nicky Clarke Colour Prolong Hair Straightener

So, my beloved GHD hair straighteners broke and me being the idiot I am, failed to keep any receipts or evidence. They were the wide plated ones, perfect for my thick hair and I had a bit of a panic when they stopped working one morning. I went straight onto the GHD website, about to add some to my basket, when I realised that instead of spending tons of money on some new ones, I would try out some cheaper ones. So I did some research and these were the ones I came across, Nicky Clarke - Colour Prolong. I couldn't quite believe how cheap they were, compared to my usual ones and the reviews looked great. I thought I would do a quick review and share my opinion.

First glance, these hair straighteners look very professional and I love the design of them. The blue plates make them look super sophisticated and unique. The button to turn them on is a similar design to the GHDs but you can also change the temperature. For me, this is something that worries me as I have no idea how hot my hair should get or how effective the lower temperature is. It takes a lot of trial and error to find the temp that works so this isn't great if in a rush but it's nice to have the option!

Another great feature of these straighteners is the lock and unlock button. It makes them smaller and compact to fit into luggage and are ideal to take on trips away. Although, the length of the wire could be an issue. It's a lot shorter than I'm used to and could be a problem if there isn't a plug socket close to the mirror. Also, compared to GHDs, my hair doesn't seem to stay as straight, as it did, for a long period of time and I usually end up re-straightening in the evening.

With all things considered, I am pretty happy with my purchase. I love trying new things and am super glad that I gave another brand a chance!
